Hello everyone,
We have officially crossed the midpoint of the season, and what a fantastic ride it’s been so far! A huge welcome to all the new members who have joined us in recent weeks. You’ve jumped right into the spirit of the club, and it’s your energy—alongside our returning regulars—that makes the Baths feel like home.
As we head into the business end of the season, we have a packed calendar of events. Here is everything you need to know.
1. Club Championships: The Road to the Carnival
The Club Championships start this Saturday!
To keep our final carnival program manageable, we race our long-distance championship events on the Saturdays leading up to the main day.
- When: Every Saturday morning from now until the carnival.
- Time: Championship races are always the first event at 8:00 am. Please don’t be late!
- How to Enter: You’ll see these championship distances appear on the registration form starting this weekend, right alongside our regular handicap events.
2. Bob Hayter Memorial Mile and Half Mile
This is one of our favourite informal traditions. It’s a great way to test your endurance in a relaxed environment with your clubmates.
- When: Sunday 8 February at 9:00 am.
- Format: If you can, please come along to swim with the group on the day. However, if you can’t make the Sunday, members are welcome to complete their swim in their own time throughout that week.
3. Tidal Pools: The Battle at Balmoral
It’s time to defend our titles! This year, we are heading to Balmoral to compete against the Spit club. Last year, Northbridge won all five trophies up for grabs. No doubt Spit will come back strong this year to reclaim them, so we need a massive Northbridge turnout!
- When: Sunday 8 March at 1:00 pm.
- The Programme: Races across all age groups, including the legendary 16 x 50m relay.
- Registration: We are opening registrations early this year to get organised ahead of time. [Please register here].
- Stay in the Loop: We’ve set up a Tidal Pools 2026 WhatsApp group to coordinate the day. Please join if you will be attending on the day, you’ll find it in the community .
- The After-Party: There will be a BBQ and drinks once the racing concludes. Let’s make it a great day out!
4. The Championship Carnival (The Grand Finale)
Mark your calendars for our final event of the season.
- When: Sunday 22 March at 1:00 pm (Backup date: Sunday 29 March).
- The Programme: We have a full race programme separate from our usual season handicap programme.
- Qualification: To compete, you must have swum on at least seven Saturdays during the season.
- Note: Your participation in the Tidal Pools Carnival and the Bob Hayter Memorial swim also counts towards your qualification tally!
Important Carnival Rules:
- Distance Limits: A swimmer may only enter one distance event (15m, 30m, or 50m) for each stroke within their age group.
- Adults 30m Butterfly: In age groups where both 50m and 30m butterfly events are held, the 30m event is scored as follows: 1st place receives 1 point; 2nd and 3rd places receive 0 points.
February Junior Special: Spread the Word!
We want to encourage even more junior members to try out our great club! For the month of February, we are offering a $10 Junior Special. This allows new juniors to swim through February, and we’ll be running tips and practice sessions to help them get ready for their school carnivals.
This is open to all existing members too, of course! Please spread the word amongst your friends and neighbours.
Thank you all for making this season so memorable already. Whether you are chasing a championship PB or just enjoying the post-swim chat, you are the soul of this club.
See you at the Baths!
